				Overview:

Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Director and Clinical Manager, this position is accountable for promoting high echocardiography quality patient care through efficient and effective management of department activities. Serves as a resource, educator, and role model to ensure high quality care for our patients. Responsible for coordination of lab schedule, staffing coordination and maintaining accreditation. Works with the leadership team to ensure staff orientation, education, development, and evaluations are completed, as well as quality improvement work. Drives both staff and patient satisfaction. This position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.

Position Reports To: Cardiovascular Service Line Director

Responsibilities:

* Demonstrates communication and interactions in accordance with Confluence Health's Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance.

* Possesses superior technical skills as echocardiography sonographer and participates in any/all patient care activities as described in said specialty job description as needed.

* Coordinates daily activities of department to ensure efficient workflows and high quality of care is delivered to patients (includes CWH/WVH/ML/OMK/Chelan).

* Creates the daily staff schedule including on call.

* Schedules staff huddles, monthly staff meetings, prepares meeting agenda and subsequent minutes.

* Participates in hiring activities and needed staff corrective action as needed.

* Facilitates quarterly staff education presentation by staff or physicians as is feasible.

* Evaluates technical work of staff and ensure all steps in exam process are completed accurately and timely.

* Acts as Technical Director for the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories.

* Responsible for all records, monthly volumes & required activities pertaining to the IAC accreditation for the department.

* Prepares for and leads quarterly Quality Improvement meetings to uphold IAC standards.

* Completes IAC application for reaccreditation every 3 years.

* Assists with billing/coding as needed.

* Assists with equipment maintenance and needed IT troubleshooting.

* Oversees and promotes high quality student experiences.

* Ensures that all studies/tests are read, and final reports are uploaded into Epic in timely fashion.

* Perform related assignments as requested in order to promote positive visitor, family and co-worker relations.

* Collaborates with the Director/Clinical Manager to determine staffing needs for the department. Participates in the weekend on call rotation with the leadership team if requested.

* Assist Clinical Manager with updating/creating unit specific policies. Collaborates with the Manager, Director and staff to develop and maintain standards of care, updates staff on accepted standards, and monitors compliance.

* Participates in improvement projects focused on achievement of annual goals, ensure implementation of and adherence to improvement changes.

* Assists in daily operations of the department, such as timecards, following up with patient and family concerns/complaints, researches and resolves RL Datix events as assigned, Chart Audits, daily check-ins with staff.

* Assists Manager and Director with annual budget development and management to assure cost effective daily operations and allocation of department resources.

* Provides teaching and skills development with staff. Supervises new and clinical staff during their orientation process.

* Adheres to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable.

* Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

* Successful completion of a two-year accredited (CAAHEP) Cardiovascular Technology or Ultrasound Program with emphasis in echocardiography.
* 4 years relevant experience.
* Minimum of 12 months previous experience in echocardiography, preferably in a hospital setting with a heart program. Previous performance of at least 800 complete echocardiography exams.
* 3D and Strain imaging experience.
* Current RDCS or RCS credential from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
* Current BLS certification.
* Valid state drivers license and reliable vehicle transportation.

Desired:

* Pediatric echocardiography experience.
* Previous experience with Epic and Cardio Merge Structural reporting Systems.
* Knowledge and or experience in Structural Heart Program (TAVR) and the specific role of Echo.
* Past Supervisor/Management experience.
