Overview:
This position is physically located in Balad, Iraq
Under the direct supervision of the Transporation Supervisor or designated Lead, Dispatcher issues vehicles and/or equipment. Responsible for dispatching of all types of vehicles and compiles a list of available commercial leased or government owned vehicles. Dispatcher coordinates the services, repair, and maintenance of vehicles. Responsible for scheduling of all commercial leased or Government owned vehicles. Keeps records and reports on mileage and provides route and destination information and instructions if requested. Maintains daily operations by initiating and responding to all telephone calls, i.e. loaners, overdue dispatches, transportation requests (TR's), maintenance pickup, emails, and other communication forms received on their own account and/or by the designated Fleet Manager
Responsibilities:
This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.
* Dispatches all types of vehicles within the Transportation Motor Pool.
* Determines and selects appropriate-type and size vehicle based on requirements.
* Keeps records and reports on gas and oil usage, mileage, and repairs, and provides route and destination information and instructions.
* Prepares DA Form 2401, Vehicle Dispatch Log and TRADOC Form 573-R, Daily/Monthly Utilization Record, prior to dispatch of vehicles.
* Coordinates vehicle maintenance with TMP customers and the GSA maintenance contractor and ensures that the Forms required by GSA are completed and furnished to the maintenance contractor at the time vehicles are turned in for maintenance.
* Ensures TRADOC Form 573-Rs are closed out at the end of the month and new forms are prepared for all vehicles.
* Maintains data required for reports, such as mileage, passengers transported, and accidents.
* Directs vehicle operations as necessary to accomplish any valid requirement.
* Required to cross train as a vehicle operator.
* Uses the Fleet Management Information System (FMIS) to dispatch and control vehicles and to record mileage.
* Receives telephone calls and reports calls for service jobs to crews or other personnel using telephone
* Utilize the specified database, GCSS-Army, or manual means to dispatch and coordinate vehicles: maintains proper use of the 5987 and 5988 Form.
* Coordinates all dispatch operations for commercial leased or government owned vehicles.
* Ensures that 5987 and 5988 are closed out when vehicles or equipment is turned in (make sure customer follows turn-in procedures).
* Records time of departure, destination, cargo, expected time of return and investigates overdue vehicles.
* Performs Job Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* Minimum Qualifications: One-Year of education may be substituted for one year of experience.
* High School graduate.
* Experience:
* Three plus years of Clerical or other experience which requires familiarity with the scheduling and operation of motor vehicles in open street and highway traffic.
* Prior dispatching experience is desirable.
* Requires knowledge of two-way radio and telephone operating

* Working Conditions:
* Must be capable of working in an extreme weather condition with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
* Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
* Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
* Physical Requirements:
* Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
* Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
* Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
