Responsibilities:
At IPS, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people by solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a dedicated Director of MEP to join our talented team at our office located in Vaughan, Ontario.
In this role, you will manage the utilization, growth, and development of professionals in the MEP Department, which is comprised of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineers and designers in several US offices. You will also support business development with technical support, proposal generation, and work-hour estimates.
Additional Responsibilities
* Coordinate with project manager and discipline directors to determine scope, complexity, and planning and scheduling requirements of projects.
* Assign appropriate personnel to provide cost-effective engineering and technical support.
* Define an appropriate cost-effective workflow process and level of design detail to achieve project goals.
* Estimate work hours to generate project deliverables and support the design team.
* Develop the MEP strategic business plan in concert with overall company planning efforts involving technical/regulatory activities required to achieve long-range and annual goals and objectives.
* Perform various personnel functions that involve hiring, performance appraisal, salary position recommendations, and employee development.
* Plan and schedule work for the department, ensuring the proper and effective distribution of assignments and manpower, space, and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
* Evaluate and initiate the necessary training of the MEP Group to ensure pertinent technical competence, acceptable social/communication skills, and personal development of leadership.
* Develop departmental policies, technical standards, and procedures.
* Assist in the development and coordination of divisional and inter-departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
* Regularly review productivity/quality reports to ensure top performance.
* Participate in business development by seeking out new projects with existing or new clients.

Qualifications:
* 15+ years of experience in the design of BioPharm processes and facilities for the cGMP production of biological and pharmaceutical drugs.
* A BSChE in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
* Progressive ability, capacity, and aptitude in administration to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work and to obtain cooperation from others.
* Is licensed and stamped/signed drawings per applicable law.
* Has sufficient technical proficiency in the various facets of MEP design to understand project requirements and apply the appropriate resources and execution approach for a successful project.
