Job Summary:
The Regional Director of Engineering and Facilities is accountable for leading and overseeing all capital project planning, execution, and delivery for the non-park Arizona Region properties, including but not limited to the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel, The Grand Hotel, Tusayan Trading Post, and Grand Canyon Hotel and Suites. This position reports directly to the Vice President and General Manager of Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel and plays a strategic role in ensuring that all engineering and facilities initiatives align with company goals, sustainability standards, and operational excellence.
In addition to capital project oversight, this role also oversees the Facilities Department for the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel, ensuring efficient maintenance operations, regulatory compliance, and high standards of safety and guest satisfaction. The Regional Director of Engineering supervises an Assistant Director of Engineering, Tusayan Maintenance Manager, and Area Project Superintendent and collaborates closely with property leadership, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver capital projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:
* Works in unison with the Corporate Projects Team based in the Denver Office.
* Fully understand and support Xanterra's Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values.
* Ensure that Facility work orders at Hotel Operations are being properly assigned and completed in a timely manner.
* Ensure that work orders involving revenue rooms are given first priority to keep out of order time and guest inconvenience to a minimum. Conduct continual follow-up on work orders to guarantee completion and quality.
* Coordinate with Risk Management, follow-up and completion of noted life safety work orders.
* Provide technical supportance to the crafts personnel as necessary.
* Assist in developing and administering the annual Facilities Department financial plan, submitting monthly variance comments for GCRH, and supporting in managing the Facilities Department P&L with Asst Director and Facilities Manager at GCRH. Provide guidance as needed for Tusayan Area Hotels.
* Interview and select skilled facilities crafts personnel from applications provided by Human Resources, working with Asst Director and Facilities Manager.
* Working with Facilities Supervision, oversee communication of work orders to Facilities Department heads as necessary.
* Work closely with Department of Sustainability and Risk in providing training programs for all facilities staff.
* Ensure Facilities Team has an effective Preventative Maintenance Program and cyclical replacement of aged equipment is budgeted and scheduled.
* Ensure that assigned Facilities vehicles are scheduled for preventive maintenance and service.
* Ensure that staff follow all prescribed Company and statutory/regulatory policies and procedures regarding worker safety, risk overseement, environmental policies, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, confined space, lockout-tagout and vehicle operation.
* Attend assigned weekly and monthly meetings as assigned.
* Work with GM and Department Head Representatives on capital projects including conceptual planning, writing scopes, bidding, and project administration and supervision.
* Provide maintenance expertise support as needed to the Tusayan non-park Arizona Region properties.
* This is an on-call position and must be available on call during the evenings, weekends and holidays as callouts occur unless otherwise approved by the Vice President and General Manager of GCRH.
* Ability to read and interpret Construction Drawings.
* Responsible for working closely with supervisory staff to guarantee that personnel are effectively and continually being monitored and evaluated to guarantee an individual's performance is at an acceptable level; guarantees overseer completes performance evaluations and guarantees the issuances of HIG's are done following the appropriate timeline established by the Facilities Department, submitting them into HR in a timely manner.
* Ensure that any assigned WFM (timekeeping system) is monitored daily for the entire Facilities Department. Ensure WFM Kronos/Dayforce is verified daily by 10am and entire payroll completed for payroll period end (PPE).
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
* Four years as Facilities Director or equivalent experience in building construction, construction maintenance or maintenance engineering type operation.
* Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, MS Project and Outlook).
* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to give instructions clearly.
* Must possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver's License and be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Thorough knowledge of the following main trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration/HVAC, painting and boilers.
* Ability to multitask multiple capital projects and emergency situations in a professional manner.

* Trunk Strength: The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing.
* Static Strength: The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
* Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.
