Overview:
The Director of Design and Construction will be an experienced leader who will oversee, plan, and manage multiple Critical Illness, Inpatient Rehabilitation, and Neuro Transitional Center construction projects nationwide. This position will be responsible for reviewing construction and mechanical plans for compliance with code and company standards, contract requirements, and engineering/ construction principles.
Responsibilities:
* Plan, coordinate, and monitor construction projects with a focus on technical development, engineering, design, and code compliance.
* Schedule and attend construction meetings.
* Identify and resolve any compliance, permit, and code issues to keep construction projects within budget and on schedule.
* Conduct periodic facility reviews to ensure compliance with Life Safety Codes (National Fire Protection Association) and licensure requirements.
* Review and update facilities' assessment checklists and make changes as needed.
* Help implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
* Assist with staff training in regard to line safety.
* Collaborate with facility directors of free-standing hospitals to maintain and improve their infrastructure systems.
* Work with hospital safety line officers, leadership, and clinicians to respond to and correct any deficiencies noted by local authorities having jurisdiction.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering Sciences, Construction Management, or related field required.
* Minimum five (5) years of experience with proven results in coordinating construction projects in hospitals and healthcare systems.
* Extensive travel is required.
* Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external resources, along with operational leaders, at a divisional and corporate level to influence decision-making on opportunities and challenges through resolution.
* Previous experience working with federal, state, and local agencies is preferred.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI), American Institute of Architects (AIA) guidelines/contracts, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements for health care facilities is preferred.
* Must have the ability to communicate with varying levels of the organization, both in written and verbal contexts, be a critical thinker, a self-motivator, and manage tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite Software.
