The Director, Technical Projects & Energy Efficiency will oversee all technical projects requiring capital funds, with a strong emphasis on promoting sustainability, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring compliance with evolving international regulations, including the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) and other environmental standards.
As the Director, you will champion sustainability across the organization and the fleet, managing capital asset projects from planning to execution. You will ensure that energy-saving and sustainability initiatives are implemented while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with maritime industry regulations. This role is essential in driving Windstar Cruises toward its sustainability and energy efficiency goals
Responsibilities:
Capital Project Oversight & Leadership:
* Oversee all technical projects requiring capital funds, including energy efficiency initiatives, vessel upgrades, and new technology implementations.
* Lead and manage the planning, execution, and delivery of these projects, ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability goals and compliance with regulatory standards.
* Develop and manage assigned project Capital budgets, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Sustainability Leadership & Strategy Development:
* Act as the champion of sustainability within Windstar Cruises, promoting a culture of energy efficiency across the company and aboard the fleet.
* Develop and implement strategies to maintain fleet compliance with current and future sustainability regulations, including CII ratings, EU maritime fuel requirements, and IMO greenhouse gas emissions goals (Net Zero).
* Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements in energy efficiency and sustainability to ensure Windstar remains a leader in the industry meets and exceeds regulatory requirements
Energy Efficiency & Regulatory Compliance:
* Monitor, analyze, and report on fleet energy and fuel-saving performance, providing feedback and direction to ship senior management for continuous improvement.
* Ensure compliance with relevant sustainability regulations, including the CII and other global maritime standards, and oversee the preparation of necessary reports and documentation for regulatory bodies.
Project Management & Coordination:
* Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g., shipyards, contractors, technology providers, regulatory bodies) to ensure all capital and sustainability projects meet their objectives and timelines.
* Oversee the execution of energy/fuel-saving and sustainability projects, ensuring that each initiative contributes effectively to the overall fleet performance and environmental goals.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
* Drive innovation by exploring and implementing new technologies and practices to improve fleet energy efficiency and sustainability.
* Regularly assess the effectiveness of energy-saving initiatives, adjusting strategies to optimize performance and cost savings.
Team Leadership & Data Analysis:
* Supervise team members (TBD) to track and report on energy efficiency metrics.
* Lead a team (TBD) to execute energy and fuel-saving initiatives across the fleet, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment
* Perform other duties as assigned by senior management related to the successful delivery of capital projects and sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing capital projects.
* Extensive experience in managing energy efficiency, sustainability, and capital asset projects within the maritime industry.
* Strong knowledge of international regulations such as CII, EEXI, IMO, and EU fuel requirements.
Skills & Competencies:
* Proven experience in managing capital projects from concept to execution, with a focus on energy efficiency and regulatory compliance.
* Expertise in energy-efficient technologies and sustainability practices, particularly within a maritime context.
* Strong analytical skills to assess performance, recommend improvements, and optimize energy usage across a fleet.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams and external partners.
* Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and data analytics tools.
Other Requirements:
* Ability to effectively manage large budgets and timelines for capital projects.
* Willingness to travel periodically for ship visits to monitor and support project goals.
* Strong organizational skills with a focus on results and continuous improvement
