Provides leadership and accountability in the daily operations of the Surgical Services Department. Includes developing and maintaining physician relations, empowering clinical care givers through solicitation of input, and implementation of actions to improve delivery of patient care. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the provision of services in the department. Participates in and/or supervises the delivery of patient care, as necessary, and has the responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice for the service. Assures achievement of department goals and takes an active role in achievement of hospital goals as they relate to the operations department. Assures adherence to hospital policies and standards set forth by accreditation and regulatory agencies. Available to support the clinical needs of the department by providing staffing support as volume and acuity demand.
Span of control 55 to 70 head count with direct accountability/reporting for one or two cost centers, three if span of control does not exceed 70. 

Overall/ Daily tasks include:

* Oversight to daily operations in the department
* Develop and maintain physician relations
* Oversight of operational efficiencies such as on-time starts and turnovers
* Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the provision of services in the department.
* Development of staff member to practice at the top of their license by providing growth opportunities
* Support staff to have the correct tools and resources to complete their job roles
* Support positive growth in service lines
*  Available to support the clinical needs of the department by providing staffing support as volume and acuity demand

OR Suites-8 OR Suites, 11 Pre-Op Beds, 10 PACU Bays, 48 Inpatient Beds

Approx.200-250+ cases per month

Schedule is made every 6 weeks by the manager

40hrs/WK- Days- variable shifts per surgical volume and current unit needs 

No surgeries on holidays or weekends.Like a Surgery center. No weekends no nights. No Call!!

'Late Stay' is required and scheduled in advance -Sign up for first, second or 3rd room late stay. Min 10 late stays in 6 weeks.

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

* 4 years progressive clinical leadership experience required. Experience in Acute Care preferred.
* Registered Nurse State of Employment Required RN license to practice in state of employment as applicable. 
* A degree in Nursing - Master Degree Nursing Required Master's degree required.  
* Nursing Specialty Certification Required Sit within 6 months; Must achieve within 1 year of hire or transfer to the role. (CNOR).
* 4 years progressive clinical leadership experience required. 
* Experience in Acute Care preferred.   
* Previous OR Experience required 
* Experience with Ortho and Sports medicine servcies required 

Physical Requirements- Sedentary work - prolonged periods of sitting and exert up to 10 lbs. force occasionally
