				Overview:

As the Director, Network Engineering, you'll lead the strategic design, implementation, and optimization of our network infrastructure across on-premise, data center, and cloud environments. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our network, particularly as we build out DISH's cutting-edge 5G network, which leverages cloud-native technologies and a distributed computing platform.

You'll be a key player in shaping our network's future, collaborating with a world-class team to deliver innovative solutions. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic vision with operational excellence, driving the successful delivery of complex network projects.

Responsibilities:

* Lead Network Strategy & Design: Drive the architectural design, engineering, and implementation of robust and scalable network solutions across on-premise facilities, data centers, and public/private cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
* Oversee Network Implementation: Guide and oversee the successful deployment of network infrastructure and services, ensuring adherence to design specifications, performance standards, and project timelines.
* Optimize Network Performance: Continuously monitor and analyze network performance, identifying areas for optimization and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce latency, and improve overall user experience.
* Manage Network Operations Escalations: Provide leadership and hands-on technical expertise for escalated network incidents and complex problem resolution, ensuring rapid recovery and root cause analysis.
* Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with architecture, operations, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions and alignment with overall business objectives.
* Vendor and Partner Management: Collaborate with hardware and software vendors, as well as internal and external partners, to evaluate new technologies, troubleshoot issues, and relay critical product feedback.
* Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of network engineers. Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and innovation, ensuring the team is equipped to meet evolving technological demands.
* Project Delivery & Accountability: Hold the Network Engineering team accountable for deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Qualifications:

* 12+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, with a significant focus on designing, implementing, and managing complex networks across on-premise, data center, and cloud environments.
* Minimum 7-8 years of demonstrated progressive leadership experience, including managing managers, and leading global cross-functional teams.
* Deep expertise in IP networking fundamentals, including routing protocols (e.g., SRv6, BGP, ISIS, etc), switching, and network virtualization technologies.
* Extensive experience with cloud networking principles and hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure VNet, GCP VPC).
* Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale enterprise or service provider networks.
* Strong understanding of network hardware and software, including routers, switches (Cisco experience required), and network management tools.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical teams, fostering growth and delivering results in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of the organization.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
* Passion for new technologies and a proactive approach to learning and adopting emerging network trends.
