About this opportunity
This role will develop and lead our Global Logistics function within Global Supply Chain (GSC). Reporting to the VP, Global Supply Chain, you will sit on the GSC leadership team, representing Logistics, Planning, and Trade Compliance globally. You will be responsible for all inbound and outbound flows, including all landed costs and associate Trade Compliance and Customs processes, into our factories and distributions centers around the world. You will be hyper focused on cost savings, network optimizations, and carrier and process redundancy. You will lead an organization of direct and indirect reports, including Sr Leaders overseeing your key functional areas
In this role, you will
* Develops and delivers a fully integrated Logistics Supply Chain Strategy and vision which supports all regional and global business priorities
* Develops and implements companywide GSC policies and practices. Interacts and provides input to executive management including EMC, our CEO's executive committee
* Some key areas which you will lead your team to support:
* Logistics and Transportation: Manage smooth flow of raw materials and finished goods throughout our supply chain network. This includes development and implementation of a multi-carrier logistics network
* Network Design & Strategy: Ensure that our global supply lanes and stocking locations are optimized for cost, speed, and business risk
* Customs & Trade Compliance: Mature processes and controls for how our goods flow into/out of all countries that we support, globally. Your team includes a mix of global and local customs, logistics, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations. Your compliance role is enterprise wide, servicing all Align lines of business
* Sourcing & Supplier Management: Working closely with our Direct Sourcing teams, provide senior leadership and direction for negotiating contracts, rates, and service level agreements with international and domestic transportation service providers. This includes procurement for multiple modes of transportation including Ground, Airfreight, Truckload, LTL, and Intermodal
* Distribution Centers: Working with our regional teams to manage flow inbound/outbound of our stocking locations, globally
* Cost and Network Modelling: Continuous cost and service improvements are critical to the success of this role. You will charge your team to constantly be looking to drive costs out of our network
* Collaborate on new market entry initiatives. You will represent logistics in efforts to either 1) go direct into an indirect market, or 2) enter a new market entirely
* Collaborate with Align regulatory and government affairs teams, government agencies, and trade groups to discuss logistics challenges and best practices and promote lobbying efforts for beneficial trade legislation. Assess market conditions (i.e. organized labor, capacity fluctuations, macroeconomic & political changes), ensuring mitigated risk and exposure as well as leveraging changes to Align's benefit
* Responsible for operational budgeting, forecasting, and benchmarking to meet or exceed company financial and profitability goals relative to Logistics and Trade programs
* Recruit, hire, train, and mentor Logistics, Planning, and Trade Compliance professionals
* Work closely with Commercial, Operations, and Functional leaders to develop and implement best-fit solutions for each business group. Always soliciting feedback to ensure that solutions match business needs
* Integrates voice of customer into logistics organization
* Work with global GSC team members, to ensure that process consistency is being followed and that we are able to best leverage our global scale, while keeping regional priorities in focus
In this role, you'll need
* 15+ years in a Supply Chain leadership role, primarily in Logistics, supporting global operations required
* Experience in small parcel required
* Experience in heavyweight freight/freight forwarders required
* Experience in a manufacturing environment required
* Excellent English written and verbal communications skills required
* Experience in a regulated industry, ideally in medical device, highly preferred
* Broad exposure to multiple Supply Chain management functions, including Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management, Procurement, Planning or Strategy, a plus
* Trade Compliance experience in high tech or medical device industries, a plus
* Strong program and project management skills
* Strong process improvement /continuous improvement skills
* Strong people leadership skills, experience managing direct reports a requirement, experience managing in a matrixed organization
* Highly organized, can take ambiguous situations and make sense out of them for others
* Strong Change Management and Influencing skills
