Overview:
EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Director, International Satellite Policy and Compliance. The candidate will directly support the Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and work with small, dynamic team of engineers and satellite policy experts to advance EchoStar's strategic goals in the U.S. and around the world. The position requires 5-days-per-week on site, apart from travel days, with the choice to be based in Littleton, Colorado; downtown Washington DC; or Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Director with at least 5-7 years of experience with a large national or regional law firm, government agency, trade association, or corporation.
* The selected candidate will report to the Vice President, Regulatory Affairs.
* The ideal candidate will:
o Exemplify energy, intelligence, and a need for achievement.
o Be willing and able to travel internationally several times a year.
o Possess experience with topics such as:
International Telecommunication Union (ITU) rules and regulations
Radio spectrum policy and licensing
Familiarity with technical standards bodies such as 3GPP
Broad understanding of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations, especially those related to satellite licensing and technical rules
Drafting licensing applications, petitions, and/or comments for filing
Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:
* Traveling internationally to ITU meetings and other regional ITU planning events
* Attending domestic and international trade shows and conferences
* Interfacing with industry associations on behalf of EchoStar, such as the Satellite Industry Association and the Global Satellite Operators Association
* Monitoring FCC rulemaking proceedings and other matters
* Drafting executive summaries for company leadership
* Drafting filings for submission at the FCC or other agencies
* Facilitating the company's compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including analytical legal research
* Working with business teams and stakeholders as needed to accomplish company goals
* Managing projects, executing plans, and improving legal processes and procedures
Qualifications:
* Licensed attorney with a J.D. from an accredited law school.
* Detail-oriented, demonstrably excellent writing, superb oral presentation and organization skills, and the ability to flexibly manage multiple simultaneous assignments in a faced-paced and dynamic environment.
* Ability to work independently based on general guidance.
* Dedication to contributing as a positive team player.
