Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
The Director of General Surgery, RN is a pivotal healthcare leader responsible for the comprehensive oversight and strategic direction of nursing services within the General Surgery department. This role demands a highly skilled and experienced registered nurse who excels in both clinical practice and administrative leadership. The Director ensures the delivery of exceptional patient care through meticulous quality assurance, staff development, and adherence to all regulatory and organizational standards. They serve as a key advisor to medical staff, department heads, and administrators on nursing best practices and departmental strategies, while also acting as an ambassador for nursing within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality of Care and Patient Safety
* Responsible for the overall quality of care provided by the nursing personnel within General Surgery.
* Develops, implements, and evaluates nursing care standards and protocols to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety.
* Investigates and resolves patient care concerns, incidents, and deviations from established standards.
* Leads initiatives for continuous quality improvement within the General Surgery nursing team.
Staff Management and Development:
* Manages the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of qualified nursing personnel for General Surgery.
* Identifies staff educational needs and facilitates professional development opportunities, including in-service training and continuing education.
* Mentors and coaches nursing staff, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
Clinical Practice and Support:
* Serves as a clinical resource and expert for nursing staff, providing guidance and support in complex patient care situations.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
Education and Experience:
* Bachelors of Science- Nursing or equivalent education and experience and
* Masters degree- Nursing or other related field MSN/MBA/MHA
* Three (3) years of nursing experience
* Two (2) years of nursing experience
Licensure and Certifications:
* Registered Nurse: AZ RN
* BLS- American Heart Association Required
