Overview:
Take ownership of a high fidelity end-to-end model & simulation for various phased array and radar applications; develop and integrate signal processing functions and conduct sub-system trade studies; act as system engineer to guide architecture design decisions and define requirements on proposals; apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of such engineering applications and products such as Radio Frequency (RF) and digital applications.
Responsibilities:
* Main and support phased array / radar end-to-end model & simulation framework for various phased array and radar applications in Matlab.
* Integrate data converter models from third party vendors such as Analog Devices and Texas Instruments.
* Develop signal processing backend functions such as digital beamforming, direction finding, tracking, and communications.
* Conduct system level trade studies with CAES RF devices as hardware-in-the-loop using prototype hardware such as Xilinx RFSoC.
* Develop System Level Architectures for sub-system designs.
* Serve as technical mentor for all digital board products, including Field Programmable Gate Array's (FPGA) and Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) base designs; serve as technical lead and mentor for the Digital Engineering Group.
* Assist in cost and scheduling for new program by reviewing customer specifications; become familiar with schedules and budget costs. Collaborate in team meetings and activities, including SET team support as appropriate.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
* Bachelor's degree in Electronical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or similar degree.
* Minimum 5 years of experience working with RF/Microwave systems (analog to digital converters (ADCs), digital to analog converts (DACs) or knowledge of RF front end signal flow).
* Minimum 5 years of experience in system engineering with the following modeling and design tools: Matlab, Ansys HFSS, or Xilinx System Generator.
* This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
* Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred:
* 8 years of experience working with RF/Microwave systems (analog to digital converters (ADCs), digital to analog converts (DACs) or knowledge of RF front end signal flow).
* 8 years of experience in system engineering with the following modeling and design tools: Matlab, Ansys HFSS, or Xilinx System Generator.
* Active Security clearance.
* Prior experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry.
* Ability to use component support software such as 4D online, Data Minor; knowledge of PSPICE or any other simulation software.
* Knowledge of high-speed digital and/or analog design.
* Proficiency with Mentor Graphics tool set.
* Knowledge of radar, EW/ELINT/SIGINT and communications are a plus.
* Work within a multi-discipline engineering team to achieve program goals.
* Experience with prototype assembly, turn-on, and debug in a laboratory environment.
* Experience taking a design from concept to production, including characterization of designs.
* Systems Engineering and/or RF experience.
* Experience writing VHDL for FPGA designs.
Salary Range: $ 108,134 - $ 205,573 annually (San Diego). Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
