EO/AA Initiates, monitors and discontinues dialysis or dialysis related treatments to patients with acute or chronic renal failure. Performs nursing duties, providing direct patient care in a safe and effective manner that promotes quality patient outcomes. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Responsibilities: * Provides dialysis treatments to patients in Acute Dialysis multi-treatment room and in-hospital patients under the supervision of a registered nurse and direction of a nephrologist. * Initiates, monitors and discontinues dialysis treatments. Charts appropriate information during the course of the dialysis treatment. * Practice guided by unit specific and organizational policies and procedures. * Evaluates the effectiveness of the dialysis regimen ordered and makes changes to meet patients' needs within the parameters of the standing orders. * Participates in unit in services, staff meetings and may assist in patient and caregiver education related to dialysis. * Reports all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to licensed staff members and providers. * Consults, contributes to, and coordinates care with interdisciplinary healthcare team members. * Ensures quality customer service and effective communication with all customers and coworkers. * May perform other duties as assigned. * On call shifts may be required. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities * Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. * Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills. * Demonstrated proficiency in the specific dialysis related skills within six weeks of hire. * Ability to practice work place safety as incumbents face exposure to potentially dangerous contaminated bodily fluids, blood, pathogens, used needles and other contaminants as part of the daily hazards of the job. Qualifications: QualificationsLicenses Required * Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Must maintain current Interstate Compact (multi-state) license if residency is not being changed to Utah. * Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. * Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
