Overview: Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for a Department Manager to join our Buildings Engineering Services team in Rochester, NY! We provide a full range of mechanical engineering services to municipal, commercial, higher education and public works agencies, partnering with clients to design buildings from the ground-up or to renovate existing buildings to optimize their use. From designing new and renovated systems, to providing both new building commissioning and retro-commissioning services, count on our team to develop a building solution that is both cost-effective and achieves our clients' goals. Our designs emphasize performance and are built with long-term facility operations in mind. Decisions are driven by objective data and in-depth client collaboration. Responsibilities: * Reviews and manages operations to ensure the quality of the technical products. * Establishes effective long-range objectives, goals, and plans for assigned team. * Provides technical and management leadership to the assigned team. * Develops marketing program in conjunction with discipline goals. * Advises and assists professionals in other groups when expert knowledge and expertise is required. * Manages activities so an adequate profit is earned on all projects. * Reviews monthly productivity and labor hour utilization-rates, reports and adjusts as needed. * Assigns projects to staff and schedules work. * Evaluate Employee Performance in accordance with company policy. Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. * 10+ years in Mechanical Engineering design fields required. * Professional Engineering license in New York and reciprocity with other states required. * Previous industrial and academic project experience preferred. * Demonstrated effective leadership across large groups of employees. * Ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships which support the success of the Company. * Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and efficiently, planning, organizing, and managing procedures, protocols, and/or staff to achieve desired outcomes for projects and programs. * Effective delegation abilities to design and engineering employees. * Strategic and outside the box thinking. * Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions. Compensation: $132,000 to $165,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
