				Overview:

Assists in providing dental care to pediatric patients by preparing treatment rooms, taking x-rays, assisting dentists, and educating patients and parents.

Responsibilities:

* Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
* Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
* Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
* Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
* Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.

Qualifications:

Education Requirement:

* High school graduate, required.
* Graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent in applicable experience, required.

Licensure Requirement: Current license to practice dental radiography in State of Ohio, required.

Skills:

* Robust communication skills, required.
* Demonstrated ability to treat and teach healthy and medically compromised patients.
* Possesses good manual dexterity.
* Ability to monitor nitrous oxide and patient after analgesia is administered.

Experience:

* Two years of experience as a chairside assistant, required.

FREQUENTLY: Bend/twist, Flexing/extending of neck, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Loud Noises, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Reaching above shoulder, Sitting, Squat/kneel, Standing
