Responsibilities:
What You'll Do:
As a Deli Department Manager at Festival Foods, your responsibilities will include:
* Leadership & Training: Lead, support, and reinforce Festival Foods culture and performance expectations. Provide thorough and consistent training for new and current deli associates, manage staff schedules, and support associates' professional development. Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to enhance team performance.
* Staff Management: Partner with Human Resources to recruit and interview candidates, extend job offers, and manage staffing levels. Ensure effective onboarding and retention strategies, including follow-up training at 30, 60, and 90 days post-hire.
* Operational Management: Oversee deli labor goals, inventory management, and pricing accuracy. Place orders with vendors for special and holiday items and maintain proper signage throughout the deli department.
* Guest Service Excellence: Address guest concerns, resolve issues, and ensure exceptional service by living the boomerang principle. Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the deli department.
* Profitability & Compliance: Manage gross profit goals, shrink control, and ensure adherence to all safety, food safety, and company policies. Document policy violations and conduct corrective actions in collaboration with HR and Store Director.
* Additional Duties: Prepare coaching sessions, performance reviews, and other documentation. Ensure accurate timekeeping and attendance records for deli associates.
* Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
* Support the Team: Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
To succeed as a Deli Department Manager, you should have:
* Education & Experience: High School Education or equivalent, with at least 5 years of leadership experience (including 2 years in a managerial role) preferred. Experience in retail, restaurant, or food service is preferred.
* Skills & Knowledge: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. Strong understanding of retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising. Proficiency in technology and computer use.
* Safety & Compliance: Comprehensive knowledge of safety requirements and company policies. Ability to apply safety training and operate equipment such as hand jacks, slicers, and fryers. Must have or obtain a WI Certified Food Manager License (certification cost covered by Festival Foods)

Work Schedule:
The Deli Department Manager is a full-time salaried position. The typical schedule includes weekends, weekdays, and holidays, with one night shift per week and one late night per month. Shift times are subject to change based on store needs.

Responsible for working closely with all Deli associates in an effort to ensure all company policies and procedures are being followed, department goals and objectives are being obtained, and associates' needs are being met. Contributes to store sales and profitability by effectively managing all aspects of Deli department operations, to include but not limited to: labor, accurate pricing, stock levels, merchandising, and guest service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Leads, supports and reinforces Festival culture, guest service and performance expectations
* Maintains adequate staff levels by partnering with Human Resources Manager interviewing applicants and extending job offers to qualified candidates
* Responsible for the thorough and consistent training and leadership of new Deli associates
* Manages Deli labor goals by creating associate schedules and collaborating with store leadership on daily/weekly/annual labor objectives
* Provides support and additional training to associates 30, 60, and 90 days post-hire to manage retention
* Provides guidance and delegates duties to Deli Department leaders
* Develops associates by supporting professional goals and objectives
* Writes and conducts performance reviews of the Deli associates, partnering with Deli leaders on specific areas within department
* Manages all aspects of gross profit goals, planning and shrink control
* Documents violations of company policies/procedures by associates and conducts the appropriate corrective action in collaboration with Human Resources Manager and Store Director
* Ensures correct signage is represented throughout the Deli Department
* Observes sales floor and back stock conditions; takes action to correct areas of opportunity
* Maintains inventory levels and ensures accurate pricing on products received and sold
* Places orders with various vendors for special orders and holidays, utilizing item movement as needed
* Provides excellent guest services by addressing concerns, resolving issues and living the boomerang principle
* Contributes to overall cleanliness of the department by maintaining, organizing and cleaning work areas, shelving, and sales floor as needed
* Responsible for Deli associates timekeeping and accuracy

QUALIFICATIONS
