Responsibilities:

* Establishes and advocates architectural principles, patterns, and best practices for database design and development across the organization.
* Advanced knowledge of database development and design concepts.  Highly skilled in performance tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, and use of database monitoring systems.   
* Leads complex data modeling efforts for new products or major system overhauls, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and maintainability.
* Designs and implements solutions for extreme-scale data handling, including sharding, partitioning, replication, and distributed database architectures.
* Drives the strategy for database performance optimization, capacity planning, and scalability.
* Leads performance bottleneck analysis at the system and application level, influencing upstream architectural changes.
* Evaluates and integrates new database technologies to meet evolving performance and scalability requirements.
* Develops predictive analytics and anomaly detection capabilities for database systems to prevent outages and performance degradation.
* May coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead). Meet administrative deliverables on time every week (Jira, time keeping, status updates)
* Proven ability to define and drive enterprise-level technical strategies and initiatives.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
* 8 years of extensive experience as a Development DBA, with significant time in a senior or technical lead role.
* Deep knowledge of multiple database technologies (e.g., SQL, Oracle, NoSQL, MySQL, etc.) and their optimal use cases.
* Expertise in advanced performance tuning, query optimization, and database internals.
* Strong understanding of cloud database services (e.g. Azure SQL DB, GCP Cloud SQL, etc.) and cloud-native architectural patterns.
* Exceptional leadership includes mentoring, written, and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
* Experience in a Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or Architect role within a data-intensive environment preferred.
