Responsibilities:
Data Engineer sought by DISH Network, LLC in Englewood, Colorado.
Participate in the design and architecture of software solutions with a focus on ETL, data management, and server infrastructure. Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries to support data discovery, analysis, and reporting. Leverage SQL and Python to ensure accurate data staging and transformation processes that align with business requirements. Design and implement data staging strategies to prepare data for downstream analytical and reporting workflows. Conduct thorough data discovery to identify and address data quality issues, ensuring that the data is accurate, complete, and accessible for business needs. Perform comprehensive data discovery and profiling to identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and accessibility to meet business needs. Manage and maintain database servers and related infrastructure to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability. Proactively discover and implement systemic improvements to optimize data pipelines, enhance platform stability, and drive efficiency across workflows. Partner with our visualization and optimization teams to create effective solutions.
Qualifications:
Requires Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Systems Engineering or a closely related field plus 2 years of database development experience in job offered or similar roles. Also requires 2 years of experience with/using the following (which may have been gained concurrently):
* ETL tools and frameworks
* SQL dialects, such as T-SQL
* AWS Athena, Hive, AWS S3, and Snowflake
* Database design, performance optimization, and scalability
* Data integration techniques and platforms
* Python and SQL Server Management Studio
* Visual Studio, Pycharm, Tableau, and SSIS
* Gitlab, Jira, Agile, and Waterfall Studio
* Server management and monitoring tools (e.g., AWS RDS, CloudWatch)
* Workflow orchestration platforms (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt)
