				Overview:

The Physical Network Design Architect is considered a "trusted advisor" with the Digital Products and Services (DPS) staff and management often resulting in a technical leading role.  The Physical Network Design Architect will be responsible for physical network architecture planning, design and implementation as it relates to data closets build out and redesign across facilities.  May offer technical advisory and consulting services Novant Health Business partners and vendors. Provides Subject Matter Expertise to business partners, including creating proposal, scope, level of effort estimation and implementation plans. Leads and participates in project execution and technical delivery.  The Physical Network Design Architect  masters a confident balance between deep technical expertise across multiple products and strong interpersonal Novant skills and is able to design, demonstrate and perform integration of product and service capabilities in complex environments.

Qualifications:

* Education: Bachelor's degree with emphasis in computer science, information systems, programming or equivalent in the related field. Required.
* Experience: Minimum two years Network Engineer experience, Required. Minimum five years overall IT experience, Required. Minimum two years healthcare experience Preferred.
* Licensure / Certification / Registration: BICSI Data Center Design Consultant (DCDC) Certification, BICSI Outside Plant (OSP) Designer Certification, BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certification Preferred.
* Additional skills (required): Highly effective and persuasive written and verbal technical sales communication skills, including expert ability in overcoming technical internal or external obstacles Strong Communication Skills - Communicating directly with business partners (sometimes non-technical business partners) to identify current and future network and telecommunication needs. Strong interpersonal consultative skills with Novant personnel and able to effectively communicate and be convincing with technical influencers and managers in situations. Strong reputation for solution architecture, solution implementation and consultative methodology Expert networking knowledge and integral roadmap interoperability knowledge for all technical products. Continuously seeks opportunities to learn about Novant's overall business, industry and technology trends; maintains a broad view of both Novant and industry trends/issues and builds off past experiences and knowledge.
Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts Basic Electrical Knowledge Basic CAD skills and be able to read blueprints
* Additional skills (preferred): 7+ years of planning, design, and implementation in Network Management in a large enterprise environment.
Experience using AutoCAD or other architectural design software platforms to perform mockups, annotations, and comparative simulation models
High level understanding of LAN/WAN networking technologies including TCP/IP, Layer 2 LAN switching, VLAN Spanning tree, HSRP/VRRP, routing protocols RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP and MPLS.
