Overview:
Perform all routine and special ultrasound procedures. Provide patients with safe, courteous and efficient care. Assist in other sections of the department as needed.
Position Reports To: Radiology Manager
Responsibilities:
* Understands, performs, and accurately completes various ultrasound examinations including abdomen, renal, OB/GYN, small parts, and vascular studies in accordance with professional and facility protocols in a safe manner as instructed.
* Assist with interventional procedures using sterile technique including, but not limited to, biopsies, aspirations, localizations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis under the direction of a radiologist or APP.
* Maintains the cleanliness of the ultrasound unit and associated minor equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
* Places lab specimens in proper location with proper labeling and forms filled in with correct patient information.
* Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety, and to prevent compromised data acquisition.
* Required to take standby and be on call, as needed.
* If on call, will be available within 20 minutes of notification of need (Central).
* Utilizes PACS, RIS, and current EMR efficiently and completes required documentation for each examination performed.
* Maintains licensures/certifications in current and good standing and complies with all continuing education requirements as dictated by regulatory entities.
* Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
* Completion of an education program approved by the ARDMS with clinical experience in ultrasound.
* ARDMS registered or registry eligible at hire date. If not registered, must be registered in one or more special areas (OB/GYN, ABD) within 6 months of hire date.
* Obtain RVT with ARDMS within one year of employment (Central Campus).
* Required to take standby and be on call, as needed.
* If on call, will be available within 20 minutes of notification of need for (Central).
Desired:
* Previous experience in ultrasound.
