				Overview:

Seeking a Custom Products Firmware/Software Engineer II!

In this role, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of specialized software tailored to specific customer embedded scanner products and systems. This role involves integrating software with hardware to ensure consistent performance and program efficiency. Key responsibilities include analyzing, designing, developing, validating, and testing software solutions, as well as creating comprehensive user documentation. You must possess excellent communication skills and have experience working directly with customers to understand their needs and provide effective solutions. Strong technical proficiency and problem-solving abilities are essential for success in this position.

Required to be on-site at our Holtsville, NY office a minimum of 3 days per week.

No relocation offered for this role.

Responsibilities:

* Designs, develops, and tests on a variety of firmware assignments that constitute a portion of a larger embedded systems project.
* Reviews customer product requests, communicates with customers and Zebra's account team to clarify requirements and develop project specifications.
* Develops and tests documentation which describes the customer's specific firmware functionality.
* Creates customer approval and internal release documentation.
* Participates and provides some input in project code reviews.
* Runs software tests designed by more experienced engineers.
* Reviews test results and performs root cause analyses to identify problems.
* Provides recommendations and implements solutions to complex issues. 
* Ensures compliance with quality process and standards.
* Makes changes to or upgrades existing firmware. Enhances and improves existing technologies to apply to new solutions.
* Makes and implements recommendations to immediate team to enhance performance and improve productivity.
* Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems.
* Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
* Builds productive working relationships internally and externally.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline required.
* Bachelor's degree and minimum 2+ years or Master's degree with no experience.
* Experience in embedded systems projects REQUIRED.
* Competency in C and/or C++ REQUIRED.
* Familiarity using schematics REQUIRED.
* RTOS experience REQUIRED.
* Experience working with customers REQUIRED.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira.
* Excellent business acumen.
* Exposure to hardware is a plus.
* Embedded Linux experience preferred.
* Threadx experience preferred.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
* Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
* Ability to mult-task.
