				Overview:

The Custodial Supervisor must manage the assigned area of responsibility for custodial personnel, including scheduling daily activities, managing appropriate leaves, supervising duties, and inspecting duties. Custodial Supervisor reports directly to the Facilities Manager and is responsible for base facilities general cleaning activities, including buffing and waxing, removal of mold and mildew, pressure washing, and exhaust hood cleaning for all base restaurants. 

Monitor the usage of supplies, personal protective equipment, and re-order as necessary. Ensures personnel exhibit superior workmanship and focus upon a quality end product. Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all tasks are accomplished safely and focus upon quality.

Responsibilities:

* Ensure that all assigned areas are cleaned following Performance Work Statement (PWS) and industry standards.
* Verifies actual hours worked by personnel 
* Ensures personnel completes all tasks following the PWS, and Environmental, Safety & Health directives.
* Ensure employees receive medical clearances, respirator fit testing/training, hazard communication, and bloodborne pathogen training.
* Provides Leadership and mentors junior personnel to develop appropriate skillsets. Addresses Customer concerns in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
* Uses Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to correctly capture data related to maintenance work orders for carpet cleaning services, preventative maintenance inspections, and urgent/emergency Customer requests.
* Ensures personnel correctly capture data on maintenance work order requests and preventative maintenance inspection forms for upload into the Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo)
* Maintain cleanliness to assigned areas.
* Facilitates planning, coordinating, directing, and controlling activities performed by custodial and landscaping personnel.
* Perform inventory control and transport to various work sites the supplies needed to complete the department's work; monitor the use and care of the supplies and equipment.
* Perform routine inspection of all assigned areas and evaluate employees' total work against established standards, ensuring training needs are met, and counseling on job performance.
* Develop information, maintain records, and prepare various reports, e.g., custodial workloads, service requirements, and employee job performance.
* Supervise duties of carpet cleaning services by directing and performing a variety of tasks which may include, but is not limited to, moving or setting up furniture, vacuuming, sweeping, dust mopping, shampooing, scrubbing, cleaning of carpets, rugs, baseboards, sand removal from carpet and floors, mopping or waxing floors, cleaning and polishing windows, and other miscellaneous cleanings as required
* Maintain cleanliness to assigned areas per the PWS, Technical Exhibits, and Internal Work Instructions.
* Inspect all equipment related to the primary duties to ensure equipment is serviceable and report any deficiencies to the Supervisor for any items that require repair or replacement.
* Maintain adequate supplies in utility closets, custodial carts, and storage containers.
* Ensure all SDS documentation is on hand and that the custodial team is knowledgeable of all hazards and first aid associated with handling and using the chemicals.
* Monitor the staff's quality of work for providing custodial services related to the care, maintenance, and cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities.
* Perform inventory control and transport to various work sites the supplies needed to complete the department's work; monitor the use and care of the supplies and equipment.
* Develop cleaning plans IAW the PWS, work instructions, and training plans for the custodial team.
* Perform routine inspection of all assigned areas and evaluate employees' total work against established standards, ensuring training needs are met, and counseling on job performance.
* Develop information, maintain records, and prepare various reports, e.g., custodial workloads, service requirements, and employee job performance.
* Adjusts schedule as necessary (subject to swing shift) to assist other sections in the Housing Branch when short staffed or when mission surge occurs.
* Establishes and continually enforces a positive safety culture throughout the Housing operations.
* Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

* High School Diploma plus vocational training in administrative sciences.
* Associate degree preferred
* Training in custodial services and equipment
* Familiar with safety training on potential contact with bloodborne pathogens and COVID-19 cleaning techniques.
* Must possess a driver's license from country of origin to obtain a Base license.
* Must be able to speck, read and write English, including providing and recieving directions in English.

 Experience

* Three (3) years' supervisory experience
* Requires ability to analyze the operation of various infrastructure systems, determine the cause of problems/ malfunctions, and take corrective actions as required
* Knowledge of U.S. Navy Safety Guidelines and OSHA Standards.

Skills

* Practices, methods, equipment, tools, and materials used in custodial work and carpet cleaning.
* Understand and convey the characteristics and use of commercial custodial compounds
* Principles and practices of working safely
* Communication and Interpersonal skills are needed to manage personnel and to exceed the customer's expectations.
* Must be able to assist in the preparation of Internal Work instruction and prepare work schedules.
* Must be flexible and have excellent interpersonal skills.
* Must be able to recognize and quickly resolve customer issues, lead the custodial team, and work independently with little or no supervision.
* Must be able to handle multiple tasks at any given time.

Other Requirements

* Work is generally conducted inside a secure, access, and climate-controlled, permanent structure. However, duties may occasionally involve exposure to extreme and working with or in areas where potential exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents could exist.
* Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE.) is required. PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
