				Overview:

Pavilion-8, an Intermediate surgical and medical surgical unit with 30 single rooms and the capacity to be a complete intermediate unit, is genuinely committed to providing extraordinary patient care. Our surgical services include ENT, Vascular, Plastic Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Surgical oncology, and Urology. Our leadership structure, comprised of a clinical director, an assistant clinical director, clinical nurse managers, and a clinical educator, is dedicated to supporting our staff and patient safety. 

Pavilion-8 is supported by our unit secretaries, critical care technicians, and registered nurses seven days a week.  We work towards having all of our nurses' cross-trained in surgical intermediate within the first year at Cooper. 

 Pavilion-8 fosters a close relationship with our providers, as our APN's and Surgical Residents are easily accessible for support, questions, and directions with patient care.  They have offices right here on the unit, along with our leadership team and our transitional care team.  

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients' activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient's family or significant other(s). Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.

* Supports the activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport. Demonstrate standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice.
* Performs technical duties as directed by RN, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care specific to population served and documents appropriately.
* Identifies and communicates changes in patient's status to RN and responds appropriately. Demonstrate standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patients 
* practice.
* Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
* Participates in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and goals. Participates in the performance improvement activities. Assists in the orientation of new hires.
* Completes annual unit-specific competencies by specified due date.
* Attend Staff Meetings when available for documents review of staff meeting minutes.
* Assists in admission, transfers and discharges of patients to and from the unit.  

Qualifications:

* At least one of the above qualifications/certifications must be met for hire.
* Communication - Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers required.
* Successful phlebotomy/EKG competency must be completed during orientation required.
