The Crisis Nurse works under our Clinical Support Unit and responds to and leads interventions on the following inpatient calls; Adult Rapid Response Team, Code Blue, Code Stroke, Code STEMI, and Code Sepsis as requested. They collaborate with other specialty areas such as OB and Pediatrics when those patients have critical needs. 

When skills are not needed for crisis situations, the Crisis RN will round in all units on patients requiring closer monitoring, or those recently transferred out of Critical Care. They will also provide in-time teaching and build relationships throughout the hospital as they make their rounds. They work closely with multiple teams with the goal of providing early intervention to avoid emergency situations.

Qualifications

* Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Nursing Degree
* Experience: 2+ years of RN Critical Care or ED experience required; ICU/ED Charge nurse experience beneficial, as well as previous experience in Tele and/or Med-Surg
* Licenses/Certifications: Current RN License in the State of Practice.  Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Provider Certified through American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Responsibilities:

The Crisis Registered Nurse is responsible for responding to all inpatient emergent and urgent situations to evaluate patients and assist physicians with patient care. This role plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient's needs.

* Responsible for responding to inpatient emergent/urgent patient care situations in all departments, to assist and act as RN team lead as necessary in partnership with bedside RN and charge RN.
* Responsible for responding to all inpatient Obstetric Emergency/Stat calls and Boise Emergency Department Pediatric Trauma activations to support and manage any massive transfusion protocol needs.
* Responsible for rounding with all inpatient charge RNs to monitor their specific floor's most concerning patients and touch base with each bedside RN to help close any education and patient care resource gaps.
* In partnership with the provider and care team, develops, implements, and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients from initial Crisis response though on-going interventions as needed.
* Initiates assessment based on the patient's emergent problems or needs based on the Rapid Response Protocol, the SLHS Code Blue and Code Stroke order sets and charting narrators, the physician's medical diagnosis, and input from the multidisciplinary care team as appropriate.
* Directs and guides bedside RNs in therapeutic nursing interventions as needed.
* Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
* Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
* Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model.
* When skills not needed for crisis situation Crisis RN will round in all units on patients admitted from the ED or transferred out of Critical Care in last 24 hours and work with the administrative supervisor to provide assistance with other patient care interventions that can be interrupted for emergency calls. Crisis RN also collaborates with floor charge RNs/ANMs and bedside RNs to assist in assessment and monitoring of the most critical patients on each floor per the charge RN/ANM.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

* Education: Bachelor's or Associate's Nursing Degree
* Experience: 2+ years of RN Critical Care or ED experience required; ICU/ED Charge nurse experience beneficial, in addition to previous experience in Tele and/or Med-Surg.
