The incumbent ensures all patients have proper paperwork to be compliant with regulatory and legal standards. Responsibilities: A day in the life of a Court Clerk at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: * Collaborates with the Access Department and Unit Staff to determine which patients will need a Physician Certificate done in order to be compliant with commitment admission. * Responsible for informing unit secretaries of the need and follow-up to make sure that paperwork is done timely. * Daily pick up of PCs from units. * Prepares and ensures accuracy of Court Order and Application for Involuntary Commitment. * Assembles packet containing Court Order and Application, screening document, and the two Physician Certificates, ensuring all documents are accurate and complete. Sends packets to the assigned Judge. * Scans copies of signed orders to the Court drive, change Meditech status and fax/email packet to the originating county, and file. * Meets with the unit and patients on the unit to complete any paperwork not completed on admission. * Supports weekend staff to identify, coordinate, complete and deliver Commitment packets to weekend and holiday emergent Judges in compliance with 72 hour rule. * Upon discharge, completes the discharge letter and sends it to court timely. * Coordinates and communicates information with Public Defenders on court matters. * Coordinates, in conjunction with Court Coordinator, court days including the flow for the Judge, all LIP's and all other attendees. * Assists other staff with training when needed. * Participates in the quality improvement process of Carrier Clinic. * Other duties and/or projects as assigned. * Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Qualifications: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. * Minimum of 3 years secretarial experience. * Ability to utilize effective time and project management skills to maximize productivity, meet project deadlines, and accomplish goals. * Ability to use independent judgment. * Demonstrate reliability, tactfulness, honesty, and discretion and a fast-paced environment. * Demonstrate attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks. * Demonstrate exemplary organizational skills. * Exemplify excellent customer service skills. * Meets or exceeds expectations of patients, hospital and staff members in the course of performing assigned accountabilities. * Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills. * Proficient knowledge of Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, and other programs as needed. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: * Associate's or Bachelor's Degree. * Minimum of 1 year behavioral healthcare experience.
