Job Summary:
The Cost Engineer assists and supports the project team with budget management, tracking of productivity, project forecasting, subcontract management, and accounts receivable. The position works under direct supervision, gathers, and distributes information and reports directly to the Cost Manager/Director and Project Manager. The Cost Engineer must be a team player and have strong organizational and accounting skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform tasks required to develop and maintain budgets for a project. This includes reorganizing budgets resulting from a change in means and methods, as well as updating budgets for additional work activities.
* Monitor costs and progress. This includes coding or reviewing the coding of timesheets, invoices, etc. for accuracy as well as insuring that adequate tracking of quantities and production is done on a weekly basis. The results of the analysis should be analyzed and clearly communicated to the other members of the project team.
* Prepare quarterly project forecasts based on extensive knowledge of the ongoing construction as well as input from other members of the project team.
* Provide supervision and/or on-the-job training to clerical and entry level professional personnel assigned to area of responsibility as needed.
* Assist in the preparation and negotiation of cost for additional work on the project including tracking Time & Material work.
* Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
* Assist in maintaining effective relationships with internal and external clients.

Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
* Excellent math skills.
* Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products.
* Minimum 2 years of construction or professional experience.
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or equivalent required or 8 years equivalent experience plus minimum 3 years prior relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Preferred Procore Construction Management certification
* Preferred experience with broad job knowledge of technical or operational practices within electrical construction.
* Preferred CMIT certificate
* Working knowledge of design and drawing software to including, but not limited to, Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, NAVIA, and Bluebeam
* Working knowledge of BIM 360 and BIM 360 Plan
* Working knowledge of Prolog and Primavera P6
* Experience with JD Edwards for timekeeping, project costs, and other project financials
* Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience utilizing email, phone, and Microsoft office platforms
* Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.

* Cost Systems: Enters and utilizes cost systems and cost management processes to ensure up-to-date project financial information
Has a basic understanding of:
* Budget & Cost Projections: Creates, validates and maintains cost systems to generate reports (ACR - Anticipated Cost Reports) for forecasting budget and cost projections for current and future activities.
* Financial Statements and Recordkeeping: Creates and maintain reports that provide detailed financial information including assets, liabilities, equities, incomes, expenses and other related information.
* Subcontractor Cost Management: Monitors, tracks, forecasts and supports negotiations of self-perform and subcontractor project costs and quantities, including labor, equipment, and materials to ensure projects are successful and profitable.
Travel Requirements: Less than 10%
Work Environment/Conditions: This job is performed both in the office and in the field on an active construction site. Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment and systems, which includes average to loud noises, ability to traverse uneven grounds, and possible outdoor weather conditions. Vision requires the capacity for close and far vision, the ability to adjust focus, depth perception and peripheral vision. Activities and responsibilities require frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
