We are currently seeking a Corporate Retail Buyer for Souvenir Apparel.
As an Apparel Buyer at Xanterra, you will play a key role in shaping and executing the buying strategy for assigned apparel categories. You'll be responsible for building and executing a dynamic, customer-focused assortment that aligns with the overall merchandise strategy and financial goals across multiple sales channels, both in stores and on-line.
This role manages the full product life cycle, including sourcing and product development, cost negotiation, planogramming, pricing strategies and forecasting/inventory planning to elevate the guest experience while achieving or exceeding sales, product margins, and inventory goals. This role collaborates closely with the corporate retail team and property operation teams to deliver a cohesive and profitable merchandise strategy. This position reports to the Corporate Senior Director of Merchandising.
Responsibilities:
* Works closely with the Senior Retail Director and Associate Buyer to develop, implement and manage cohesive product assortments and strategies to meet and exceed revenue, margin and inventory goals.
* Responsible for developing and executing product assortments, forecasting, purchasing inventory and overall product management including executing entrance and exit strategies for assigned categories of merchandise.
* Utilizes and is proficient in Xanterra's merchandise management system as well as Open to Buy system to manage product, purchase orders, forecasting/replenishment, inventory and pricing/promotions.
* Consistently monitor and analyze business performance for key metrics to identify trends, rate of sales, as well as item/category/inventory opportunities to drive actions to support goals.
* Works closely with vendors to negotiate the best pricing, incorporate trends, align on delivery timing, ensure quality of product, as well as develop product designs while building and maintaining healthy and strong vendor relationships.
* Develops merchandising planograms and works closely with the Manager of Store Design and Visual Merchandising on communication and execution of product placement, fixture approvals and signage/graphics needs.
* Directly supervise, train, motivate and develop Associate Buyer as needed to ensure performance and personal growth.
* Provide leadership, direction and clear communication to Store Leadership, Associate Buyer and other cross functional teams while fostering a positive workplace culture and community.
* Travel to properties as required assisting support staff with store set up, evaluating merchandise mix, and gaining full understanding of property experience and to partner on needs and objectives.
* Attend industry trade shows and vendor showrooms for product sourcing purposes.

Qualifications:
* Excellent math and analytical skills with a full understanding of retail buying and inventory management analytics with the ability to process large amounts of data
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with team members and key stakeholders
* Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and develop strong, long-term business relationships
* Full understanding of the technical and logistical aspects of product sourcing and custom product development. Direct Import buying experience a plus
* Highly proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to become proficient in internal systems, tools, and programs
* Must be accurate, detail oriented, organized with excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
* Must be self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor's degree in business, merchandising, supply chain, or a related field
* Minimum 5 years of buying experience in a multi-unit environment, including product development with experiences as a Retail Buyer
* Experience in multi-unit retail buying in apparel as well as knowledge of the travel, leisure and destination retail segment is a plus
* Previous store operations experience is a plus
* Experience working with inventory management, planning, and data warehouse systems
Work Location & Physical Requirements include:
* Ability to accomplish physical aspects of the position including moderate to heavy lifting, long periods of standing and bending, and the ascent/descent of ladders
* Possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license

* Travel in season can be up to 10%-15% of work time and can include weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extra hours as needed
Compensation:
$80,000-$90,000 plus eligible to participate in company's incentive plan.
