Overview:
As a Cook, you will hold a crucial position at Sassetta, our vibrant casual Italian restaurant located in the heart of Historic Downtown Dallas. You will work independently, under minimum supervision, and will be preparing delicious meals according to our recipes and plating specs which are so important for creating a memorable dining experience. You will be responsible for prepping, cooking and dressing dishes, while supporting the Sous-Chef's efforts to improve the general quality of the cuisine served.
Responsibilities:
* Complete necessary food and station preparation prior to the opening of the restaurant in order to ensure that guests are served promptly and efficiently during the Restaurant, Room Service and Cocktail Bar operating hours.
* Recognize quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, and dairy and meat products.
* Deliver dishes that are cooked according to the recipe and plating specs
* Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
* Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (peeling, chopping, julienne cutting, brunoise dicing, cross chopping, etc)
* Cook food in various utensils or grillers (stir frying, grilling, roasting, baking, sautéing, poaching, simmering, etc)
* Ensure attractive presentation and quality of all food and dishes
* Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
* Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
* Assist Sous-Chef efforts to improve general quality of the cuisine served
* Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by your supervisor
Qualifications:
* High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
* Culinary experience required.
* Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
* Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
* Ability to stand during entire shift
* Have thorough knowledge of menus and the preparation required, according to hotel standards.
