				Overview:

At CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body mind and spirit of every person in a more comfortable less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services heart and vascular care emergency services surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging.

Responsibilities:

* Plans and prepares foods according to recipes and time schedules.
* Works as a team member in pre-preparation, preparation, portioning, and storage of  food.  Assists on patient tray assembly line.
* Exercises quality control, including portion sizes and temperature standards.  Monitors refrigerator and freezer temperatures in designated work areas.
* Logs information on production sheets and other records required in the department.
* Assists in food product evaluation, test trays, and environmental sanitation inspections.
* Maintains a high standard of sanitation in area of responsibility to comply with hospital management, local and state inspectors, JCAHO and CMS.  Cleans and maintains all equipment and work areas.
* Takes care of hospital equipment and reports any equipment that is not working properly or equipment that is not safe.

Qualifications:

Required:

-Possesses good cooking skills with restaurant or institutional background.

-Demonstrates creativity, enthusiasm, and a consistent positive demeanor.

-Works well with others.

-Ability to read and write.
-Ability to calculate amounts of ingredients when adjusting recipes.

-Ability to interpret written instructions and follow through with oral instructions.

-Completes Food Services Sanitation class or inservice.

Preferred:

Previous food service and major equipment operation experience.
Education equivalent to a high school diploma.
