Position Overview
The Convenience Development Business Manager will lead the growth of Sazerac's presence in the Mexican convenience channel, directly aligned to the company's strategy.
This is a unique opportunity to build a business from the ground up, influencing distributor partners, developing direct relationships with CVS retailers, and crafting localized strategies for sell-in and sell-out success.
This role requires a strategic yet hands-on operator-someone who thrives on execution is not afraid of getting their hands dirty, and brings deep commercial acumen, marketing creativity, and financial rigor to the table.
Key Responsibilities
Channel Development & Retail Execution
* Execute Sazerac's CVS strategy in Mexico, starting with priority accounts.
* Drive distribution growth through new listings and increased store-level penetration.
* Lead negotiations with CVS customers to secure listings, secondary placements, and activation agreements aligned with brand and commercial goals.
* Lead development and execution of Joint Business Plans with key CVS accounts-aligning on volume targets, trade terms, promotional calendars, and execution metrics. Track progress quarterly and recalibrate plans based on performance.
Perfect Store Execution - Ownership & Accountability
* Own the design, deployment, and performance tracking of Perfect Store standards across CVS accounts.
* Monitor execution KPIs and drive corrective action in collaboration with distributors and field teams.
* Leverage execution tracking tools to monitor planogram compliance, cold box placements, facings, and visibility scores.
Distributor Influence & Enablement
* Partner closely with Sazerac's local distributors to drive execution of CVS-specific objectives.
* Influence distributor behavior and priorities through data, incentives, and capability-building.
* Train and supervise distributor sales teams and third-party merchandisers on CVS execution standards.
* Build and lead a high-performing network of third-party merchandisers and sales reps. Set clear KPIs, provide tools and training, and track performance through regular reviews and in-market visits.
Sell-Out Activation & Marketing
* Design and implement promotional plans and in-store activations in collaboration with Trade Marketing and agencies.
* Customize POS tools and materials to resonate with the Mexican convenience consumer.
* Monitor market trends, shopper behaviors, and competitor activity to inform local strategy.
Inventory & Commercial Management
* Oversee inventory planning and alignment between demand and supply with distributors.
* Manage pricing, promotions, and value chain economics to maximize brand contribution.
* Track sell-in and sell-out performance by banner, format, and geography.
Field Execution & Market Visits
* Conduct regular market visits to assess Perfect Store execution.
* Actively collect field intelligence and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Travel 30% of the time across key metropolitan areas and CVS clusters.

Qualifications:
Candidate Profile
Must-Have Requirements
* 5+ years of experience in Sales, Trade Marketing, or Category roles, preferably in spirits, beverages, or FMCG.
* Proven success in launching or growing brands in the convenience or impulse channel.
* Experience working with third-party distributors and/or directly with retailers.
* Strong understanding of value chain economics, including inventory management and promotional ROI.
* Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional partners, external stakeholders, and commercial negotiations.
* A highly entrepreneurial, resilient, and hands-on mindset-ready to build from scratch.
* Strong analytical and Excel/PowerPoint skills; comfortable with data-driven decision-making.
* Fluent in Spanish; professional level English required.
* Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field.
* MBA is preferred.
* US Visa is a must.
Desirable Qualifications
* Prior experience with spirits or beer
* Existing network within Mexican CVS retailers and/or merchandisers.
* Understanding of digital activations, e-commerce touchpoints, and omnichannel sell-out strategies.
Work Conditions
* Hybrid role, based in Mexico City.
* 30% travel to key cities and retailer headquarters.
* Hands-on field presence required weekly (e.g., in-store visits, ride-alongs).
