Control Room Op (Power Generator)

				Overview:

This position is physically located in Balad, Iraq

Responsible for the inspection and safe operation of all equipment at the assigned station.

Responsibilities:

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

* Controls and maintains auxiliary equipment's such as fans, compressors, etc. 

* Controls the generator output to match the phase, frequency and voltage of electricity supplied to panels. 

* Adjusts controls to generate specified electrical power. 

* Monitors and inspects power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems. 

* Opens and closes valves and switches in sequence upon signals from co-workers in order to start or shutdown auxiliary units. 

* Starts or stops generators, auxiliary equipment's, and other power plant equipment's, and connects or disconnects equipment from circuits. 

* Takes reading from charts, meters, and gauges at established intervals and records data in appropriate logs and takes corrective steps as necessary. 

* Cleans, lubricate and maintain equipment's in order to prevent failure or deterioration. 

* Replaces electrolytes in batteries and oil in voltage transformers and resets tripped electric relays. 

* Preventive maintenance jobs monitoring through CMMS, Perform Electrical and Mechanical Preventive maintenance on Diesel Generator and diesel engine driven equipment. 

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Minimum Qualifications

* Foreign National

* Education/Experience:

* College degree preferred, high school diploma is required or equivalent.

* Should have minimum (3) three years of experience in power industry preferably Power Plant Operator.

* Must have hands on experience on Caterpillar 3608/3512 Diesel Engines series and auxiliary equipment's & its operation.

* Program Specific Requirements:

* Team oriented, self-start, able to prioritize, and work safely with minimal supervision.

* Ability to interpret instructions, procedures, and schematic/wiring diagrams.

* Knowledge of the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity.

* Knowledge of technical practices.

* Possess knowledge of safety and environmental issues as they relate to Power generation and equipment Maintenance.

* Able to communicate with customer.

* Working Environment:

* In this position there is exposure to physical and working conditions where serious accidents or injuries may occur, exposure to disagreeable noise elements and prolonged high ambient temperatures. Outdoor environment, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling heavy objects. 

* The job duties require an employee to bend, stoop, reach, or stand for extended periods.

* Physical Requirements:
* Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
