				Responsibilities:

GFT is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Practice or CBG Team in St. Louis, MO! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our St. Louis, MO office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

This role inspects and oversees construction work to ensure that results, procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. This role will serve as a daily point of contact with clients and contractors, and manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing and maintaining documentation.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

* Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
* Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
* Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications.
* Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
* Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
* Interpret plans and specifications for Contractor and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
* Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, develop pay estimates and change orders.
* Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
* Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously.
* Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance
* Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport

Qualifications:

What you will bring to our firm: 

* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
* A minimum of 1 year professsional experience in Construction Engineering and Inspection.
* A safety-first mindset.
* Strong writing, listening and communication skills.

What we prefer you bring: 
* 4+ years of Transportation Engineering experience with state DOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
* ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state DOT certification are recommended, but not required.
* Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
* Ability and desire to lead.

Compensation:
The hourly range for this role is $20.00 - $29.00 per/hour. The hourly range is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
