Responsibilities:
GFT is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Transportation Team in either our Kansas City, MO or St. Louis, MO office! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of these offices.

What you'll be challenged to do:
Inspects and oversees construction work to ensure that results, procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. Serve as daily point of contact with clients and contractors. Manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing and maintaining documentation.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
* Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
* Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
* Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications.
* Prepares samples of materials for laboratory testing.
* Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
* Interprets plans and specifications for Contractor and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
* Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, develops pay estimates and change orders.
* Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports.
* Monitors several types of work activity, however not simultaneously.
* Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance.
* Manages documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport.
Qualifications:
What you'll bring to our firm:
* A minimum of 1 year professsional experience in Construction Engineering and Inspection.
* A high scool diploma.
* Strong writing, listening and communication skills.
What we prefer you bring:
* 4+ years of Transportation Engineering experience with state DOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or similar.
* ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state DOT certification are recommended, but not required.
* Ability and desire to lead.
Compensation:
The hourly range for this role is $20.00 - $29.00 per hour. Hourly range is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
