Overview:
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Department Manager to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team in Maine!
Our professional engineers and technicians successfully oversee transportation project construction with an outstanding track record for cost and schedule containment. Our ACI, SAT, and NICET certified construction professionals have extensive on-the-job experience in supervision, observation, safety oversight and inspection with ongoing training that ensures required daily schedules are adhered to and all materials are procured and constructed according to plans and specifications. We work with our clients to achieve the optimum value, schedule, and project quality for heavy highway, single and multi-span bridges, intersection, traffic signal, and marine improvements, water/wastewater transmission, building and vertical project management, park and recreation construction, and condition assessment and asset inventory.
Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership, strategic/managerial direction, and guidance to achieve established financial and growth goals for the discipline.
* Responsible for the overall productivity, profitability, client satisfaction, and quality of work throughout the discipline.
* Develop, execute, and lead discipline marketing and business development strategies in collaboration with the Corporate Marketing and Business Development teams.
* Responsible for fostering staff professional development, monitoring staffing/recruiting activity, and effectively managing employee relations.
* Manage the performance of all assigned staff, conduct performance evaluations, provide input for all raise and bonus discussions.
* Develop the skills and abilities of staff which are necessary for successful execution of work duties. Serve as a mentor and coach staff.
* Active involvement with recruiting and talent acquisition.
* Serve as project manager and be a resource for staff on assigned projects and manage completion of projects regarding scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
* Prepare proposals and contracts for projects.
* Collaborate with other firms in pursuit of opportunities and manage subconsultant contracts.
Qualifications:
* Associate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, engineering technology, or construction management is highly preferred.
* 10+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience in or around MaineDOT or local agency projects is preferred.
* 7+ years of experience with preparing proposals, developing budgets, tracking budgets and the associated financial management skills necessary to run a team and monitor the performance of the business.
* Professional licensed is preferred.
* Demonstrated effective leadership across large groups of employees.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Effective strategic thinking and delegation skills.
* Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
