The Analyst, Conflict of Interest will assist the Director, Conflict of Interest Management with the oversight of the Business and Research COI Program to ensure compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies. This position will also ensure compliance with COI training and participate in training and outreach initiatives at HMH, including but not limited to development of resources, webpage maintenance, and presentations. Responsibilities: A day in the life of an Analyst, Conflict of Interest at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: * Provides timely identification and critical analysis of potential conflicts of interest arising out of the business of Hackensack Meridian Health, including clinical and research activities, related to the outside interests and activities of faculty and other personnel. * Work with the Director to ensure that potential conflicts are reviewed and submitted for evaluation by Hackensack Meridian Health's conflict committees in accordance with Hackensack Meridian Health policy and applicable laws and regulations, including scheduling meetings, preparation of committee materials and documentation of meeting minutes. * Work with the Director and other leadership to ensure compliance with COI management plans including auditing research studies that have been managed by the committee. * Demonstrates knowledge of Hackensack Meridian Health's conflict policies, laws and regulations related to conflicts and community best practice. Incorporates these standards into the performance of duties. * Assists the Director with implementing an effective conflicts management program applicable to the institution, leadership, clinical staff, board of trustees, research staff and other personnel, including the implementation of a new electronic COI disclosure and review system. * Works with the Director to review and document analyses on conflict issues arising from Hackensack Meridian Health business activities, including clinical and research activities, related contractual matters, federal funding, regulatory compliance, and the annual/research disclosures processes. * Works with the Research Staff and the Office of Legal Counsel to proactively address conflict matters arising out of technology licensing, sponsored research and clinical trials. * Prepares significant conflict matters for review and evaluation by the Director and conflict committees. Including critically assessing research protocols, research proposals and contracts for relatedness. * Works with the Director on assessing and improving the efficiency of conflicts processes and matters at Hackensack Meridian Health, including on matters related to Hackensack Meridian Health's COI policies, procedures, supporting technologies, communications, and training. * Develops standardized metrics and reports of research and business COI activities. * Performs other related duties as assigned. * Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Qualifications: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * Bachelor's degree (preferable in the biological sciences or public health). * Minimum of 2 years research experience and/or relevant work experience addressing conflicts of interest and applying regulations for an academic medical center, or the equivalent. * Experience in a related area of hospital or research administration. Relevant work experience may be substituted for advanced degree with research focus. * Proven excellent analytical, oral and written communication (including presentation), and project management skills. * Self-starter that is willing to seek training and relevant literature to better understand research processes. * Ability to understand, apply, and communicate complicated policies and laws and regulations at all levels with Hackensack Meridian Health while maintaining high level of confidentiality. * Ability to work independently to gather information necessary to conduct and document reviews. * Ability to successfully collaborate with individuals. * Ability to maintain confidentiality of the information received and gathered as part of COI review process. * Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: * Experience with software for financial interest reporting, IRB and/or pre-award grants and award management or similar software in a university or academic medical center environment. * Prior experience conducting conflict of interest analyses.
