Global Communities is seeking a Community Health & Nutrition Specialist for an anticipated project. This two-year program will contribute to the food and nutritional security of vulnerable communities in the Moskitia and the Atlantic Coast of Honduras through environmentally sustainable, resilient, and culturally relevant solutions. The Community Health and Nutrition Specialist will analyze and understand health problems facing individuals, families, and communities, and act to transform realities, respecting the principles and culture of the individual communities. He/she will lead health promotion and prevention programs and projects. He/she will also enable teamwork, improving the interactions between institutions and their users. They will have skills in diagnostics, food planning, epidemiological research, and nutrition capacity building to prevent, treat, and control public health problems. Responsibilities: * Conduct a baseline study of the nutritional status of households in accordance with the parameters and variables established by the Secretariat of Health (SESAL). * Design and implement Community Nutrition and Hygiene Plans, facilitating participatory processes for their generation and implementation. * Lead health promotion and disease prevention programs. * Perform dietary counseling to prevent, treat, and control Public Health problems. * Coordinate with local health sector entities for the planning and development of health promotion activities. * Plan and develop actions for the prevention of health deterioration. * Coordinate with health authorities to analyze opportunities to improve community nutrition using culturally acceptable products. * Lead the promotion of health, nutrition, and hygiene improvement activities in school feeding plans or programs. * Coordinate with local health services to implement a strategy of supervision and mentoring for health, nutrition, and hygiene support for the target communities. * Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on project implementation and monitoring. * Support the development of project management indicators as part of the project's Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Plan. Qualifications: Key Requirements * A university degree in medical sciences, nursing, nutrition, or public health with a master's degree in nutrition, primary care, community health, or a related field. * At least five (5) years of experience supporting or advising community health processes, including measures for adequate food, nutrition, and hygiene in rural communities in Honduras. * Verifiable work experience in performing basic diagnostic procedures on community health services and participatory design of nutrition and hygiene plans in rural communities. * Verifiable experience in rural or community health units, with emphasis on health and hygiene training programs. * Verifiable experience in the application of participatory and inclusive training methodologies, including with indigenous peoples and afro-descendants. * Experience in projects developed with a focus on community participation, preferably in indigenous and Afro-descendant communities. * Proven work experience working with multidisciplinary teams. * Good verbal and written communication skills. * Leadership and ability to coordinate with technical teams from different disciplines. * 100% proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading and writing). Knowledge of Miskito, Tawaka, Pech and/or Garifuna language will be an advantage.
