The Kodiak Area Native Association was formed in 1966 as a 501 (C)(3) non-profit corporation providing health and social services for the Alaska Natives of the Koniag region. The Kodiak Area Native Association (KANA) service area includes the City of Kodiak and six Alaska Native villages: Akhiok, Karluk, Old Harbor, Ouzinkie, Port Lions, and Larsen Bay.  

Services provided by KANA include an Ambulatory Medical Care and Dental Care, Pharmacy, Contract Health, Community Health Aide Program, Substance Abuse Prevention, Intervention/Outreach, Social Services, non-clinical community Mental Health, and Youth Prevention Projects. Other services provided by the organization include Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program, Vocational Rehabilitation, Early Childhood programs, Education, Employment and Training programs, Infant Learning Program, a full service Fitness Center and Tribal Operations/Environmental Health.

POSITION SUMMARY
Provide primary and emergent health services in KANA clinics in village communities on Kodiak Island, including responding on an on-call basis for after hour emergencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Provide primary and emergent healthcare services including evaluation, treatment, and follow-up under the guidance from the Statewide CHA Program and regional medical director.

Provide health screening through prenatal, well-born and school child evaluations, immunizations and TB testing in cooperation with other providers.

Coordinate preventive dental program, and complete routine health testing, breast exams, blood pressure, etc.

Provide patient education, screening, and follow-up regarding STI's, family planning, and other health related conditions.

Monitor chronically ill patients, making home visits as necessary.

Maintain confidentiality regarding patients.

Maintain clinic equipment and supplies, insure a sanitary clinic environment.

Maintain orderly and confidential system of medical records, clinic logs and submit periodic reports.

Assist in the education of alternate health aides.

May be required to provide occasional itinerant coverage in KANA regional clinic or other Kodiak Island village clinics.

Participate in Village Response Team Program, attend training and respond to emergencies.

May be required to drive an ambulance as part of the CHA and Village Response Team member responsibilities.

Greet visitors, staff and others, in person or on the phone, in a professional courteous manner; direct visitors as appropriate.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATED, LICENSEE, REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); individuals selected for this position will be provided training that follow the CHA Program and EMS guidelines for training, continuing education and certification.

Current Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
