Clinical Team Leader-Electrophysiology

				Overview:

The Lead RN in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab plays a vital role in ensuring efficient operations and delivering high-quality patient care. This position provides leadership support, working closely with the Cath Lab Manager and Supervisor to implement care strategies and enhance clinical practices.

Key responsibilities include serving as a clinical resource for the healthcare team, actively participating in procedures, and overseeing operational duties. Additionally, this role contributes to process improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing the EP program's effectiveness and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

* Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice and an expanded knowledge of current clinical and specialized patient care concepts.
* Serves as a resource in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in the clinical department.
* Demonstrates flexibility and self-direction in meeting patient and department needs by responding as a team player. 
* Will assume a patient care assignment unless on an administrative only day
* Incorporates the UnityPoint FOCUS Values into their daily nursing practice.
* Assists in creating a positive work environment that contributes to safety and positive clinical outcomes. 
* Supports recruitment and retention of staff to assure an adequate workforce for clinical care. 
* Assists in orientation for new staff and student interns by serving as a resource and mentor. Serves in a preceptor role, as appropriate.
* Participates in department and hospital shared governance infrastructure and performance improvement activities. 
* Follows up on patient concerns in the absence of the Nurse Manager and Supervisor. Notifies Nurse Manager or Supervisor of any concerns that have the potential to escalate or lead to Risk Management concerns.
* If serving in a charge RN role, evaluates daily staffing needs. Collaborates with the leadership team to facilitate adjustments that meet the department needs. 
* Maintains concurrent department records/documentation for staff development and competencies, as required. 
* Assist in ordering supplies as needed
* Leads and supports process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the EP program.

Qualifications:

Education:

* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program. 

License(s)/Certification(s):

* Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa 
* Maintain current BLS certification
* Maintain current ACLS or Core certification

Experience:

* Two years of clinical experience in a clinical setting

Other: 

* Level 3 Medium Work:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
