Overview:
The Nurse Educator is responsible for coordinating the orientation process for all nursing staff and assessing their competencies. They design specific in-service training programs to address areas that require staff development based on departmental needs. The goal is to maximize the efficient and cost-effective use of health resources while centering services on the patient.
Responsibilities:
* Develops and maintains an effective staff education program, coordinating individualized orientation and continuing education for all nursing staff.
* Tracks and trends statistical information to ensure ongoing competence and clinical competency of nursing personnel.
* Collaborates with nursing administration and compliance teams to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and facility policies.
* Facilitates training affiliation agreements with local nursing schools and develops, reviews, and revises policies as required.
* Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field through ongoing education and attending meetings and conferences as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
* Graduate from a National League of Nursing (NLN) accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree in nursing education or other related healthcare or education field highly preferred.
Experience
* Must have at least two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Licenses/Certifications
* Must have and maintain a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice. Must be certified as a Basic Life Support Instructor and maintain certification in basic life support (BLS) as a health care provider.
