Responsibilities:
The clinical Laboratory Scientist has a California State license and performs tests requiring the exercise of independent judgment, assigned administrative duties and responsibility under the general direction of the Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager, and Laboratory Supervisor. This includes all the necessary processes ancillary to such testing including, but not limited to, phlebotomy, equipment and glassware maintenance, reporting of findings, record keeping, reagent monitoring and ordering, quality assurance and quality improvement procedures, development of new or modified test procedures, and necessary administrative duties as may be assigned. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will perform only those tests for which the scientist is qualified by education, training, and/or experience.
* Performs technical procedures maintaining accuracy, precision, and meeting department time frames.
* Reports and interprets lab results accurately meeting turnaround time exceptions.
* Maintains reagents, supplies, and equipment for the department.
* Assist with the ordering, collecting and processing of laboratory specimens when needed.
* Performs projects and writes policies/procedures or reports, within time frame given.
* Documenting and/or gathering data as required.
* Participation in the Laboratory QA/QI program
* Incident documentation and reporting.
Qualifications:
Required
* Education Level: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a biological science.
* Experience: Meeting current licensure with the State of California as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
* Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
