Clinical Lab Scientist - Clinical Laboratory Services 

Northridge Hospital Medical Center

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team in Clinical Laboratory Services. This position plays a crucial role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care across various hospital departments.

Responsibilities:

* Perform a wide range of laboratory tests in multiple disciplines, including:
* Hematology: Complete blood counts, coagulation studies, blood bank procedures
* Chemistry: Electrolytes, enzymes, hormones, drug levels
* Microbiology: Bacterial culture and identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing
* Immunology: Autoantibody testing, serological markers
*  Urinalysis and Body Fluids: Microscopic examination, chemical analysis
*  Molecular Diagnostics: PCR testing, genetic analysis
*  Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including analyzers, microscopes, and automated systems
* Ensure proper specimen handling, processing, and analysis
* Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed
* Adhere to strict quality control procedures and safety protocols
* Participate in departmental quality assurance activities and proficiency testing
* Collaborate effectively with other laboratory personnel, physicians, and nurses
* Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members
* Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and technologies

Qualifications:

* Minimum one year of experience in an acute care facility required.
* Required training in Hematology Chemistry Blood Bank Microbiology Immunology and Serology as applicable.
* B.A./B.S. required
* Windows Operating System.
* Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel helpful.
* California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or Limited California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License are required and ASCP registry preferred
* Current Los Angeles County fire card is required.
* For direct patient care AHA BLS certification is required for CLS drawing blood donors only.
