Overview:
At Fast Pace Health, we invite students who are enrolled in a mid-level Provider program to become a part of our team through our Extern Program. We are looking for motivated students that want to learn, observe and study under the supervision of experienced clinical personnel.
If selected, Externs will be placed with a preceptor in a clinic within their region. Therefore, Externs must be open to placement in any clinic in an assigned region.
Due to the large number of applicants, we are unable to provide status updates on individual applications. All selected applicants will be contacted via email regarding their application. Externs must be receiving school credit to enroll in the Externship Program.
Responsibilities:
* Job Shadow with assigned preceptor(s).
* Adhere to all policies and procedures of the company.
* Ensure that the activities are conducted in a manner that is consistent with overall department expectations and are in compliance with Federal and State regulations, guidelines, and requirements including working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA.
* Observe the following: This is by nomeans an exhaustive list but it gives an indication of the many observances taking place.

* Observing prepping exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
* Observing staff triaging patients by checking vitals, performing blood draws and giving injections, etc.
* Observe patients and Provider's charting practice, and their reporting changes in patients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment.
* Observe lab testing and phlebotomy.
* Observe providers in preparing for minor procedures and physicals.
* Observe and discuss and review patients' medical history, symptoms, allergies, and current medications. Observe staff asking patients situation-specific questions to formulate accurate diagnoses in order to provide guidance as necessary to ensure quality professional services and patient satisfaction.
* Observe staff ordering, performing, or interpreting the results of diagnostic tests, as well as responsibly prescribe medications and educate patients on continued treatment and care of acute and chronic conditions
