Overview: Responsibilities: This certified position works within Infirmary Health guidelines with the goal of improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation through performing concurrent review of the medical record to achieve accurate inpatient coding and a working DRG assignment. Provides education to physicians and others to improve the capture of clinical severity for the level of service rendered. Identifies process improvement opportunities and supports the timely and accurate capture of measurements to improve patient outcomes. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: One of the following: * Graduation from an accredited RN program with recent hospital experience * Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) * Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) 2 or more years' experience working in Clinical Documentation Improvement Completed Clinical Documentation Improvement Bootcamp Working knowledge of federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding and reimbursement Working knowledge of data analysis and personal computer spreadsheet software Well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills Polished presentation skills Well-developed written and oral communications skills Desired Qualifications: Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) through Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (ACDIS) One of the following: * Current Alabama RN license * Current Multi State RN License in accordance with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama* * Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) * Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) *Infirmary Health abides by the NLC requirements and guidelines for the state of Alabama
