Overview: Clinic Nurse or CMA Grundy Family Medical Clinic Part-Time; 16 hours per week; Clinic Hours M-F 8A-5P and Saturdays 8A-11A The Clinic Nurse (LPN/RN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports providers by delivering direct patient care and ensuring a smooth clinical workflow. This role focuses on preparing patients for exams and procedures, administering medications and vaccines, performing specimen collection, and providing patient education and follow-up. The position also includes care coordination such as scheduling referrals, documenting in the electronic health record, and supporting compliance with clinical standards and safety regulations. With a blend of clinical skill and compassionate care, this role is essential in creating a positive patient experience and supporting overall clinic operations. Responsibilities: Clinical Excellence / Patient Care * Assist providers and clinical staff by obtaining vital information and preparing patients for examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures. * Demonstrate competence in performing clinical skills within licensure/certification scope. * Draw and collect blood or other specimens, and prepare them for laboratory analysis as needed. * Administer medications and vaccines as ordered (oral, IM, SQ, or ID) in accordance with licensure/certification. * RN: May perform telephone triage, apply the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation), initiate IVs per protocol, and supervise delegated duties to LPNs and CMAs on approved protocols. * RN or LPN: May place urinary catheters per protocol. * CMA: Provide patient/family teaching, understand lab/procedure values, and take next steps appropriate to certification. * Schedule referrals, complete necessary forms/requisitions, and ensure compliance with CPT/ICD coding. * Support care continuity by maintaining follow-up systems for visits, labs, and procedures. * Accurately document patient care and communication in the electronic health record using standardized workflows. Development & Patient Education * Educate patients and families, using methods such as Teach-back, to ensure understanding and engagement in care. * Maintain awareness of clinic and organizational updates through meetings, email, and intranet resources. * Ensure compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, Safety, Risk Management, and organizational policies and procedures. * Demonstrate initiative in improving quality, safety, and customer service while striving to exceed patient expectations. * Contribute positively to team goals through collaboration, feedback, and accountability. * Maintain regular and consistent attendance. * Perform other duties as requested by the Clinic Administrator to ensure efficient clinic operations. Qualifications: Required: * Graduate of an accredited program and certified per licensure * Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. * BLS and Mandatory Reporter Preferred: * Two years' experience in a Family Practice setting, Urgent Care, or related field preferred.
