Department Overview: 

The Dolly Parton Birthing Center at LeConte Medical Center is fully equipped with 10 LDRP beds, 9 post-partum/GYN rooms, a nursery, a 2 bed triage unit, 1 recovery room, and 1 OR Suite. This department is a family-centered birthing unit whose main goal is to provide excellent birthing experiences for patients and their families, and to promote family bonding with care and education. 

Position Summary: 

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities:

* Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
*  Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
*  Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis.
*  Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
*  Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
*  Participates on unit-based committee/serves as council representative.
*  Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
*  Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education             

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:          

New graduate within 1st year of orientation.

Licensure Requirement:                   

Valid Tennessee license. CPR required.
