Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Clerk/Receptionist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

* Obtains demographic as well as financial information on all patients coming in for testing visits into the hospital.
* Initiates authorization for Perinatal/urogynecology visits via phone or fax within the allotted time.
* Records and verifies all pertinent information from insurance companies in respect to a patient's authorization for services, eligibility and benefits.
* Understand HDX insurance verification system and identifies any potential problems with the insurance carrier.
* Checks patient's name for each appointment, as per patient identification policy.
* Monitors patients wait time and bring any issues/concerns to the immediate attention of the department manager.
* Ensures delivery of excellent customer service resulting in positive and improving patient satisfaction scores for department and Medical Center.
* Communicates in a professional manner with insurance companies, employees, physicians and their offices.
* Submits to credit any self pay patients that need financial screening as well as any patient that have co-pays and/or deductibles.
* Possesses ability to perform duties in compliance with all practices, policies, procedures and regulations of the Perinatal/Urogynecology Department.
* Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
* Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
* High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
* Knowledge of Medical Terminology

      Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

* Hospital, physician office, or insurance company experience.
