The Clerical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and secretarial tasks to maintain departmental operation.

*This is a very busy practice and the team is looking for a candidate that has Medical Office experience*

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Clerical Assistant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

* Maintains operation of the clerical services including, but not limited to typing, filing, billing, and transcription. 
* Assists with special projects as instructed, composes memos, transcribes notes, and researches and creates presentations. 
* Assists professional staff in retrieving essential patient or general information. 
* Screens and transfers callers, arranges meetings, maintains files, distributes mail, and maintains office supplies. 
* Maintains up-to-date departmental manuals and files. 
* Generates reports, handles multiple projects, and prepares and monitors invoices and expense reports. 
* May assist with compiling and developing the annual budget. 
* Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. 
* Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing, and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.). 
* May assist with schedules and maintain contact with outside agencies. 
* Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 
* Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

* High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. 
* Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications. 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

* Experience in health care or corporate sectors.
