GFT is seeking a Civil Designer/Engineer to join our Transportation team in either Toronto or Ottawa, ON. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto or our Ottawa office.

What you'll be challenged to do:  

  

We are looking for a self-starter who will work with a highly functioning, entrepreneurial, autonomous team and be responsible for providing design & multidisciplinary coordination for a variety of projects and clients, including the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), Metrolinx, and various municipalities in the Greater Toronto Area/Ottawa Area.

Working closely with peers and supervisors, you will have the opportunity to: 

  

* Work with clients and attendance at meetings is required. 

* Coordinate in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative team environment. 

* Contribute to planning, preliminary design and detail design for interesting infrastructure projects. 

* Prepare detailed engineering drawings (plans, profiles, sections, and miscellaneous details) with limited to high complexity in support of broader engineering activities. 

* Develop practical applications of engineering principles and ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and standards. 

* Produce plans, 3D models and 2D drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, or MicroStation & InRoads. 

* Gather and record information to be used for cost estimating. 

* Prepare specifications. 

* Conduct site inspections & investigations during design development process. 

* Provide technical writing input to proposals, feasibility studies, design criteria and other reports. 
* Interfacate and manage civil engineering sub disciplines such as drainage, traffic, geotechnical, survey and others.
