Overview:
Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924 CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan you'll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery a level II neonatal intensive care unit a nationally accredited cancer center comprehensive neurosurgery advanced orthopedic program and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Job Summary / Purpose
The Chaplain nurtures the healing ministry of the Church and contributes to the creation of healthier communities by delivering pastoral and spiritual care. Works closely with nursing, care management, physicians, palliative care, and other ancillary healthcare professionals. Collaborates with the Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education and students to provide learning experiences in pastoral services, where applicable. Partners with area clergy and ministers to facilitate the healing process. Other aspects of this role may include, but are not limited to the following: religious services, debriefing, and leading spirituality groups.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
* Provides pastoral/spiritual care to patients, loved ones, and staff.
* Completes spiritual assessments and develops plans of care. Communicates with other care team members. Provides clinical documentation as required.
* Provides site orientation, mentoring, and support to CPE Residents and Interns as assigned.
* Responds to and initiates routine and emergency referrals in a timely manner.
* Coordinates with the local religious community to ensure the patient's/loved ones spiritual and/or sacramental needs are met.
* Coordinates spiritual/pastoral ministry and bereavement care for those approaching end of life and at death.
* Participates in interdisciplinary meetings with other healthcare professionals as needed.
* Provides blessing/ritual/prayer for special events and day to day activities.
* Educates and assists patients with respect to Advance Directives
Qualifications:
Required:
Pastoral ministry in an institutional setting.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree
Master's degree or equivalency in theology, behavioral science, ministry or related field.
One to three years of pastoral ministry or related experience under institutional supervision.
Completion of one or more units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
