The Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech works under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed. Assists in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.

Day to Day duties: 

* Scrub on all cases.
*  Primarily, GEN, Ortho trauma/ totals, Sports Medicine, OB/GYN, ENT, Urology, and Spine cases. Surgical volume is 50% ortho, 20% general, 20% OB/GYN, and 10% other services. Associates are cross trained for all services, no specialized service Teams.
*  Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
*  Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day's cases. 
* Maintain Sterile field during procedures.
*  Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon's needs.
*  Maintaining and updating preference cards.

3 OR Suites

Approx. 180-200+ cases per month

Additional 20% PRN differential applies for this role! 

Schedule: PRN.- per policy requires a minimum of 5 shifts per 6 week schedule -two holidays per yr

Additional call required (one 8-hour shift per scheduling period)- 30 minute callback radius required.

Our scheduling is made every 6 weeks by our coordinators and we try to allow for plenty of time to enjoy our mountains during your days off.  Every night from 9pm to 7am is covered by call with an average call requirement of 7 nights per schedule period.  

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following: 

* Basic Computer skills required.
* One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
* Experience in a specialty field preferred.
* HS Diploma/GED required
* Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required
* BLS from the American Heart Association required
* Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. * A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech required
* Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required

Physical Requirements-Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
